《洛杉矶文化现在：这座城市的多元文化精神》展览预告

由一庐艺术主办《洛杉矶文化现在：这座城市的多元文化精神》，邀请来自洛杉矶12名当代艺术家以不同的绘画风格以及艺术表现形式，将艺术作为一种文化价值取向，一种与艺术家自身创作紧密联系在一起的社会价值为主要线索，带来这些艺术家们在不同的文化背景下所创作的作品。届时，影像作品，多种装置，油画将表达洛杉矶这座当代城市的多元化精神。开幕当天四川本土画家将与这12位洛杉矶艺术家进行学术讨论，试以不同角度讨论关于东西方艺术差异及影响。

Mark Greenfield：

 

Mark Greenfield 《Anger Management》

 

Mark Greenfield是土生土长的洛杉矶人。在奥蒂斯艺术学院马克格林菲尔德师从查尔斯怀特和约翰里德尔。1973年在加州州立大学获得艺术教育学士。1987年在加州长滩大学获得绘画硕士。Greenfield的作品在美国广泛展示，特别是在乔治州的吴哥那尔当代艺术博物馆，加州非裔美国博物馆的展出。并在泰国，意大利，韩国等国展出。他的作品涉及美国文化中族裔刻板印象，促进种族问题急需和期待已久的对话。他是洛杉矶Artcore2006年水晶奖的获得者，同时也曾获得洛杉矶艺术家试验室，艺术家个人，和加州社区基金会等奖学金的获得者。目前纽约Ricco Maresca画廊签约艺术家。

 

About Mark Greenfield

 

 

Mark Greenfield is a A native Angelino, Mark Steven Greenfield studied under Charles White and John Riddle at Otis Art Institute in a program sponsored by the Golden State Life Insurance Company. He went on to receive his Bachelor’s degree in Art Education in 1973 from California State University, Long Beach and a Masters of Fine Arts degree in painting and drawing from California State University Los Angeles in 1987. Greenfield’s work has been exhibited extensively throughout the United States most notably at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, the Wignall Museum of Contemporary Art and the California African American Museum. Internationally he has exhibited in Thailand at the Chiang Mai Art Museum, in Naples, Italy at Art 1307, Villa Donato and the Gang Dong Art Center in Seoul, South Korea. His work deals primarily with the African American experience and in recent years has focused on the effects of stereotypes on American culture stimulating much-needed and long overdue dialog on issues of race.  He is a recipient of the L.A. Artcore Crystal Award (2006) Los Angeles Artist Laboratory Fellowship Grant (2011), the City of Los Angeles Individual Artist Fellowship (COLA 2012), The California Community Foundation Artist Fellowship (2012) and the Instituto Sacatar Artist Residency Fellowship in Salvador, Brazil (2013). He was a visiting professor at the California Institute of the Arts in 2013 and is currently represented by the Ricco Maresca Gallery in New York.

About Michael Freitas Wood 

 

Michael Freitas Wood was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He studied art history and printmaking at Palomar College in San Diego.

侯熙|Xi Hou：

侯熙是工作在洛杉矶的旅美抽象艺术家, 美中艺术项目（ACA）策展人。她的工作包括绘画，装置，影像和雕塑。

About Xi Hou

 

Xi Hou is a based LA Angles Chinese American abstract artist, America-China Art Project (ACA) curator. Her works include abstract painting, installation, video and sculpture.

She was awarded “Chinese Art Prize” in 2008. In 2010, she moved to Los Angels. From 2010 up to now, she has had four solo shows and numerous group shows in USA. In 2010, her works were selected in “LAAA’s 2010 Open Show”, juried by Franklin Sirmans, curator of contemporary art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). In 2014, the article “Expressions of Energy in the Paintings of Xi Hou” is part of a series that explores the diverse range of artistic influences from Asia in the arts and culture of Southern California by Meher McArthur on KCET. In the same year, Debra Levine, New York MOMA special interview host and columnist, wrote an article about Hou’s exhibition in the Art House of Hollywood Laemmle theaters on ARTSMEME.In 2015, an art review about Xi Hou’s SOLO “Transiency” at LAUNCH LA by Peter Frank published on Fabrik Magazine. Her artworks were also featured in Zhangjiang Contemporary Art Museum in Shanghai, Songzhuang Art Museum in Beijing, Chongqin Art Museum and Blue Room Museum in Chengdu.

 

 

Beanie Kaman：

Beanie Caman出生于康涅狄格州哈特福德市。她还在新墨西哥州圣达菲市居住23年。

About Beanie Kaman 

Beanie Kaman was born in Hartford, CT, and now lives in Los Angeles, CA. She also lived in Santa Fe, NM for 23 years. 

She attended Hartford Art School, part of the University of Hartford, CT, before moving to Boston, MA, where she attended New England School of Art and Design. She graduated with highest honors in graphic design and painting.

In 1980, she moved to Los Angeles CA, and continued her education at Otis/Parsons Institute of Art, studying painting with Jim Morphesis. She has had numerous solo exhibitions at L.A. Artcore and PS Zask Gallery in Los Angeles; Grimson Gallery in Seoul, S. Korea; Red Dot Gallery in Santa Fe, NM. She has participated in group exhibitions with galleries in Los Angeles, CA including L.A. Artcore, Silverwood Gallery, Minus Zero, Andrew Shire Gallery and Red Pipe Gallery. She exhibited with C.A.F.E. Gallery, Richard Levy Gallery, Anderson Contemporary Gallery and the Harwood Art Center in Albuquerque, NM. In Santa Fe, she participated in group exhibitions at Charlotte Jackson Fine Art, LewAllen Gallery, SITE Santa Fe, The College of Santa Fe, Santa Fe Community College, Jay Etkin Gallery, The Center for Contemporary Art, The Community Gallery and Red Dot Gallery.

Ms. Kaman has shown at Kitakyushu Art Museum, Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum and the Fukuoka Art Museum in Japan; Gangdong Art Center and Cosmos Art Center, as well as Grimson Gallery in Seoul, S. Korea; Chaing Mai University in Chaing Mai, Thailand; Blue Roof Museum and IBox Gallery in Chengdu, China. 

In 1991, she won an NEA National Fellowship, thru the Western States Division, for her Works on Paper series “Signs & Symbols”. 

 

JOEL KING：

JOEL KING 来自美国中西部的艺术家，在印度安那州约翰赫伦斯艺术学院获学士学位，在南加州大学获艺术硕士学位。现生活和居住在洛杉矶。

在King称之为“可变性”纪录，乔尔致力于形象和内涵的层次。通过一系列分层过程和分层的依据，产生影像，他涉入现代,信息充斥的非线性意识流. 他默认与支持扎根于精神的多层次复杂意识来认知生活。

About JOEL KING 

Joel King is an American artist from the Midwest who received his BFA from the John Herron Art Institute in Indianapolis, Indiana before coming to California to earn his MFA from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles where he now lives and works. 

In what he calls “recordings of mutability”, King deals with layers of image and meaning. By creating images built from a series of layered processes and references, he taps into the nonlinear flow of consciousness in the modern, info-glutted present. Tacitly he supports a more spiritually rooted awareness of life in its multilayered complexity.

 

 

 

Ann Phong：

Ann Phong 1995年获加州州立大学富勒顿分校艺术硕士。她积极参与在画廊和博物馆80多群展和个展。她的作品被广泛展出在洛杉矶，橙县，休斯敦，温哥华，泰国，韩国和日本。安执教艺术于加州大学波莫纳分校。安还担任越南美国艺术于文学协会董事会主席。推广越南美国艺术家。

About Ann Phong

Ann Phong received her MFA in painting from California State University, Fullerton in 1995, and has actively participated in more than 80 solo and group shows in galleries and museums. Her work has been widely exhibited in Los Angeles, Orange County, Houston, Vancouver, Thailand, Korea and Japan. Ann currently teaches art at California State University, Pomona. Ann also serves as the board president of VAALA (Vietnamese American Arts and Letters Association), a nonprofit organization to promote Vietnamese American artists who live outside Vietnam. 

Since 2007, she has been invited by the College Board of Education as one of the readers to score AP Studio Art for national high school students' art portfolios. Ann has also been invited to speak at many high schools, colleges, universities, galleries and museums on the subject of her own work and the work of other Vietnamese American artists.

 

 

Dan Nadaner：

About Dan Nadaner

Dan Nadaner is a painter and video artist. His works use visual experimentation and alternative structures to explore dream and stream of consciousness. His paintings explore a flow of painterly space that moves in and out of the symbolic order. In his works he seeks to connect diverse times and places, including travels, losses, moments of encountering the unknown, and the flow of consciousness in these moments.

Dan Nadaner received the A.B. degree from Harvard College, where he studied at the Carpenter Center. He continued the study of painting at the California College of Arts and Crafts, and received the M.F.A. in painting from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a member of the art faculty at California State University, Fresno. He has presented lectures on his work at the University of British Columbia, the State Academy of Art in Oslo, and the Studio Art Centers International in Florence.

 

 

Echo Lew：

About Echo Lew

Echo Lew was born in Taiwan and moved to USA in 1983. He is an international contemporary artist located in Los Angeles, California. His artworks are featured in galleries, museums and private collections throughout the United States, Japan, Italy, Taiwan and China.Echo is a self-taught artist and his style went from early 20th century inspiration into totally contemporary work. He is one who invented the “Light drawing” which he uses digital camera with long exposure to catch his “Drawing in the Space” or “Dancing with Lights”. It becomes his signature for contemporary world.

 

 

Julienne Margaret Johnson：

About Julienne Margaret Johnson

Julienne Margaret Johnson was born in Sandusky, Michigan and is a multi-disciplinary artist whose practice includes drawing, painting, sculpture, assemblage and installation. She has been engaged professionally in a variety of other creative disciplines, most notably songwriting and poetry. She was nominated for a Grammy in 1999 and a Dove Award in 2000, among other honors. Her award-winning poetry has been published in numerous small press publications, anthologies and recorded albums. Despite her success in these areas, Johnson's most profound connection and full time focus, is with the visual arts – her strongest, most direct form of communication.

Jae Hwa Yoo：

JAE HWA YOO出生在韩国，现在在洛杉矶生活和工作。她在韩国Hong Ik大学获学士，在加州洛杉矶分校获艺术硕士。杰创建了原始，空间为主的绘画装置，看起来强迫和张扬，实际有冥想抹去或表识的痕迹，显示明显虚无中的丰富整体和存在性。她的作品是以早期封闭式并有多层次书法实践沉淀的粘贴.这种有时密集有时内敛，有表识或无表识的每日自审画室作业已成为灵感和标准。杰在国际上先后做过16个展。她的作品被首尔韩国当代艺术国家博物馆收藏。

About JAE HWA YOO

Jae Hwa Yoo is a Korean-born artist who lives and works in Los Angeles. She received her B.F.A.  from the School of Art of Hong Ik University in Seoul, Korea and her M.F.A. from California State University in Los Angeles. Yoo creates primordial, space-focused painting installations in which seemingly  compulsive and assertive, yet meticulous and meditative marks and erasures, combine to reveal an abundant wholeness and presence residing in apparent emptiness. Yoo is guided in her work by early memories of the closeness of nature and of the pasted and patched-together, multi-layered palimpsest studies of calligraphy practice, which have become both inspiration and paradigm for her daily, self-scrutinizing studio practice of marking and unmarking which produce the sometimes  dense and sometimes restrained spatial networks of simultaneous affirmation and effacement that she revises again and again. Yoo is known for her association and exhibitions with theTansaekhwa / Ecole de Seoul artists of Korea. She has had 16 solo exhibitions and exhibits nationally and internationally. Her works are in numerous private and public collections, including the Korean National Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul.
